Pat McAfee Compares Wisconsin Football To Michigan

The University of Wisconsin football team’s game versus Rutgers began a few minutes after ESPN College GameDay’s staff revealed their predictions.

Former NFL player Pat McAfee compared the Badgers to Michigan, a team with a strong running game and a two-time defending Big Ten champion. Rutgers was the team he picked to defeat Michigan, but the Wolverines won 31-7.

He predicted that the Badgers (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten) would defeat Rutgers (4-1, 1-1) along with the rest of the GameDay team. Baker Mayfield, a former Oklahoma quarterback now playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, professed his admiration for Wisconsin quarterback Tanner Mordecai.

Mordecai studied at Oklahoma from 2018 to 2020. The Waco, Texas native spent his final year with the Badgers before transferring to SMU. Despite having four errors in his first two games, Mordecai has a season record of 85 for 128 with two passing touchdowns and three interceptions. On 36 carries, he has ran for 103 yards and four touchdowns.

“Former Oklahoma quarterback, Texas boy, you’ve got to roll with those boys,” Mayfield said.

These ideas were reinforced by Lee Corso, who also mentioned the Badgers’ homecoming game.

“They have a stable of running backs, so they’re going to be OK,” former Michigan star Desmond Howard said. “I see Wisconsin overpowering Rutgers in the fourth quarter.”

Kirk Herbstreit, a former quarterback for Ohio State, took a more analytical approach and praised Rutgers for embracing coach Greg Schiano’s tenacity and defensive philosophy.

“It’s kind of two teams mirroring each other, but I like Wisconsin at home,” Herbstreit said.
