Liverpool dominated Toulouse 5-1 at Anfield on Thursday, securing a perfect record halfway through the group stage and consolidating control over their Europa League section.
After nine minutes, the hosts took the lead thanks to a solo run by Diogo Jota, who got past four players and put the ball in the bottom corner.
Seven minutes later, Toulouse equalized when Thijs Dallinga, playing in Group E, ran from the halfway line into the box at the ideal moment and slotted the goal.
Wataru Endo’s header put Liverpool back ahead just after the half-hour mark, and they would dominate the remainder of the game.
Darwin Nunez increased their lead four minutes later by taking advantage of a rebound inside the area to shoot from a close range.
Nunez had a great run and came close to scoring again in the 65th minute, but his shot from the right side of the box struck the post. Still, Ryan Gravenberch scored Liverpool’s fourth goal by pouncing on the rebound.
After confusing his defender, late substitute Mohamed Salah finished the hammering three minutes into stoppage time with a well-placed effort into the top corner from closer range.
Liverpool leads the group by five points above Toulouse and Union Saint-Gilloise, who both have four points after losing to visiting LASK 2-1. LASK are pointless at the bottom.
