Leaked: Messi Is Allegedly The Ballon D'or Winner

Like a few times before the award ceremony over the years, the Ballon D’or winners for the male and the female categories have allegedly been leaked.

After missing out on the 2022 award to Karim Benzema, the organizers have informed Messi of his victory ahead of the ceremony taking place in Paris on Monday, October 30.

If Messi wins the Ballon D’or ahead of Haaland, it would be his eighth win of the prestigious football award, making him the most decorated player.

Although the organizers did not narrow their 20-man list, speculations suggested that the battle was between Messi and Haaland since both led their squads to top championships.

Messi was on fire last year, leading his country Argentina to the World Cup glory in Qatar.

As for the female award, Catalan newspaper Sport claims Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati will be named the winner, having won the Women’s World Cup with Spain.

She had already been piqued for the award even before the World Cup kicked off.

Spain beat England to clinch their first Women’s World Cup title and although the aftermath was full of drama, it would be a breath of fresh air.
