Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion drew 2-2 at the AMEX Stadium thanks to a late goal from Lewis Dunk. Prior to Manchester City’s match at Arsenal, the outcome lifts Liverpool up to third, three points behind leaders Tottenham. Brighton, who last played and lost 6-1 at Aston Villa, is one point farther back in sixth.

An exciting game between Brighton and Liverpool ended in a 2-2 draw thanks to a late equalizer from Lewis Dunk.

The Merseysiders were hoping to avenge their controversial first league loss of the season, which came at Tottenham last week. However, they were down a goal after just 20 minutes when Simon Adingra caught out former Seagulls star Alexis Mac Allister and fired a long-range shot past an unguarded Alisson.

The visitors labored for a significant portion of the opening 45 minutes before turning it around with a double blast in the final five minutes before halftime.

After a magnificent build-up from Dominik Szoboszlai, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez, Salah guided in his first goal after 40 minutes. He then coolly converted a penalty kick after Bart Verbruggen and Pascal Gross were fouled while playing out from the back.

The game was much more open in the second half, as Alisson did brilliant work to stop the energetic Adingra from getting near before Liverpool’s substitute Ryan Gravenberch managed to hit the bar with the goal well in reach.

As the game neared its conclusion, Brighton assumed control and leveled the score 12 minutes from time when Dunk blasted in Solly March’s tricky free kick.

Prior to Manchester City’s match at Arsenal, the outcome lifts Liverpool up to third, three points behind leaders Tottenham. A point further behind in sixth place is Brighton, which last played in the league and suffered a 6-1 loss at Aston Villa.

The Merseyside Derby pits Liverpool against Everton just after the international break. Manchester City is reached by Brighton.
