In an international friendly played at Nashville, Tennessee’s GEODIS Park on Tuesday night, the U.S. men’s national team trounced Ghana, 4-0.
It was the kind of comeback game the team needed following their humiliating loss to Germany on Saturday. The USMNT’s victory margin against an African opponent was equal to its greatest, which they had achieved at Washington’s RFK Stadium in 2000 against South Africa.
In the first half, the USMNT scored three goals in less than twelve minutes. Before the break, they added a fourth in an odd move that ended with an indirect free kick inside the 18-yard box.
Two of those goals were scored by Gio Reyna, who was the subject of controversy following the 2022 World Cup. This included an amusing indirect free kick.
On Saturday, Reyna made his debut for the USMNT against Germany, marking his first appearance since the World Cup family dispute.
