Group Of Israeli Settlers Storm Al-Aqsa Mosque Complex On Fifth Day Of Sukkot

According to the Islamic Waqf Department, dozens of Israeli settlers entered the sensitive Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem to commemorate the fifth day of Sukkot.

Following requests from ultranationalist Jewish organizations, thousands of settlers have been leading provocative tours of the mosque complex since Sunday.

Jews are not allowed to enter any area of the Al Aqsa Mosque complex, commonly known as the Temple Mount, due to the site’s hallowed status, according to Jewish law.

Sukkot is a seven-day celebration that began on September 29 and will last through this coming Friday.

Israeli settlers reportedly attempted to execute “Talmudic rituals” on Wednesday when they attacked the complex in groups through the al-Mughrabi Gate by the Western Wall next to Al-Aqsa Mosque according to a Waqf official.

During the invasions, police imposed age restrictions and barred young Palestinians from the mosque, according to witnesses who spoke to the Anadolu news agency.

To make room for Jewish prayers, the Israeli army ordered Palestinian business owners in the Old City to close. Israeli forces reportedly barred a number of Waqf personnel from entering the revered Islamic site in the morning, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
