Gabriel Martinelli will play in his 100th Premier League game today against Chelsea after being included in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup.
Only Bukayo Saka has played more games in the division (112) since Gabriel’s September 12, 2020, debut against Fulham. Gabriel is the third Brazilian player, behind teammate Gabriel Magalhaes and Gilberto Silva, to become a Gunner to achieve 100 Premier League games.
Martinelli has played a total of 99 games, winning 57, drawing 20, and losing 22, and his century will be made up of 74 starts and 26 substitute appearances.
He has since recorded 27 Premier League goals (perhaps none greater than his 2020 Stamford Bridge goal against Chelsea) and 14 assists.
If Kai Havertz plays from the bench, he might finish a century of league games, which would be additional reason to celebrate after the game. Of those, ninety-one were for his opponents today, prior to his summer transfer from west to north London.
