Ferran Torres Goal Give Barcelona A Hard-fought 1-0 Win Against Porto

In their Champions League Group H match on Wednesday, Barcelona defeated Porto 1-0 thanks to a goal from substitute Ferran Torres. The Spanish team eventually went down to 10 men after Gavi received a second yellow card for a foul in extra time.

Mehdi Taremi, Stephen Eustaquio, and Pepe all squandered scoring opportunities in the first half, but Porto was perhaps the better team overall despite their wastefulness.

In the final seconds of the first half, Torres, who had come off the bench to replace the injured Robert Lewandowski, intercepted a pass from Porto midfielder Romario Baro and scored with a precise finish.

After Porto regained the lead, Barca’s Jules Kounde stopped them from tying the score in the 53rd minute.

After a swift counterattack, Porto striker Pepe appeared to be heading for a goal from point-blank range, but the deft French center-back made a jaw-dropping last-second challenge to clear the ball around the post with the tip of his boot.

In the 77th minute, Porto believed they had been given a penalty for a handball inside the box by Barcelona defender Joao Cancelo, but the referee reversed his judgment after seeing a VAR replay and finding that forward Eustaquio had used his left arm to control the ball during the buildup.

Barcelona managed to hold off Porto’s constant assault, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s remarkable saves from goals by Wendell and Galeno were essential to the visitors’ three critical away points.

With six points after two games, Barca is in first place in Group H, three points clear of Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk, who earlier on Wednesday defeated the bottom team Antwerp 3-2.
