Chet Holmgren Welcomed To The NBA By Bulls Vets

Wednesday marked Chet Holmgren’s Oklahoma City Thunder debut, having been chosen second overall in the 2022 NBA draft.

The Thunder’s season-opening against the Chicago Bulls began with the former Gonzaga Bulldogs standout receiving his unofficial “Welcome to the NBA” halfway through the second quarter.

Nikola Vucevic, after taking a dime from Coby White, nailed a two-handed jam over the seven-footer.

The budding star is placed on his first poster by the 16th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft in this picture-perfect occasion.

After stripping Holmgren of the ball, 2012 ninth-round pick Andre Drummond tested his transition defense on a fast break.

With a beautiful crossover that knocked Holmgren to the ground, the seasoned player laid the ball in the hoop with a finger roll of his left.

Not one to stay down for long, Holmgren promptly passed the next inbound pass to fellow 2022 draft pick Jalen Williams.

When the game was over, he wasn’t sure if he should declare the play his official “welcome to the NBA moment.”

“Uh, I don’t know about that one. I’ll just leave it at that,” Holmgren said.

After suffering a Lisfranc injury during a Seattle Pro-Am game, Holmgren missed the whole 2022 season and is predicted to be a strong candidate for NBA Rookie of the Year.

He finished the Thunder’s 124-104 victory with 11 points and four rebounds.
