Alvaro Morata Rescues Point For 10-Man Atletico Against Celtic

Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata both found the back of the net, but Diego Simeone’s team could only muster a point from a rowdy Celtic Park as Celtic earned a 2-2 draw that was maybe better. Brendan Rodgers gave a performance that was sorely needed. Rodrigo De Paul’s straight red card in the second half reduced Atletico to 10 men.

In a thrilling 2-2 draw in the UEFA Champions League at Celtic Park, Celtic put up a terrific display to push ten-man Atletico Madrid all the way.

The home team played some exciting and furious football during the first half, taking the lead after just three minutes thanks to the excellent Kyogo Furuhashi.

Midway through the first half, Greg Taylor was called for a foul in the box, and Antoine Griezmann scored the penalty kick to give Atletico Madrid a response.

Luis Palma’s goal from a tight angle moments later sent the home crowd into a frenzy as the motivated team took the lead again.

After Celtic had the best of the first half, Atletico managed to take control of the match in the second, and it came as no surprise when they tied the score again, this time with a superb header from Alvaro Morata.

Up to Rodrigo de Paul’s second yellow card and sending off on minute 82, the Spanish visitors appeared to have the best chance of winning. This decision enraged the Atleti players and management.

However, a worn-out Celtic was unable to overcome their ten-man opponents and their six-year Champions League winless streak continued.
