Megan Thee Stallion wants everyone to know that she has nothing against Justin Timberlake. The Grammy-winning “Savage” rapper took to TikTok on Wednesday morning (Sept. 13) to clarify up any misunderstandings resulting from a widely misinterpreted video taken backstage at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday evening (Sept. 12).
In a humorous maneuver, Megan’s TikTok captures her speaking with Timberlake and accentuating her words with her hands, but viewers are unable to make out a word they are saying. Instead, as a nod to her well-documented love of anime, Megan posted the video to the soundtrack of Do As Infinity’s “Fukai Mori,” a 2001 J-pop ballad that served as the second ending theme for the well-known anime series Inuyasha.
The rapper says something akin to, “I’m not beefing with Justin Timberlake, chill!” in the video. before the pop star interrupts and utters her famous ad-lib, “Real hot girl s-t!” I just communicate with my hands, lol @justintimberlake luv ya, Megan captioned the TikTok she had published on Instagram.
After a backstage video from Tuesday night’s VMAs ceremony appeared to show Megan and Timberlake engaged in some sort of verbal altercation, fans rushed to her defense. According to a source who spoke to Billboard, Megan was merely eager to meet Timberlake and insisted on a formal introduction in a less hectic setting.
Other than this trending moment, both musicians had amazing VMAs evenings. While Timberlake reconnected with his *NSYNC comrades for the first time in ten years, Megan and Cardi B performed the groovy new song “Bongos” live for the first time.
