Leicester City are maintaining a glorious path to find their way back to the premier league, after demolishing arch-rivals Southampton 4-1 in their championship fixture.
Former England striker Vardy scored 21 seconds into the match after he traded passes with Stephy Mavididi, and sent the ball into the back of the net without a sweat.
17 minutes later, Kasey McAteer made it two, meeting a fine Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall through ball before sending it passed Southampton’s goalie.
Wilfred Ndidi made it three for Leicester with a beautiful assist from Mavididi.
Mavididi who had been impressive all night sealed the deal for the Foxes, scoring a solo effort.
Two of Leicester’s three changes from their defeat by Hull last time out were up front, with 36-year-old former England striker Vardy and Mavididi starting.
Speaking on the win, Leicester’s boss said:
“First of all, it was a good win. It is never easy. And then the performance, for me, was unbelievable.
“On the ball, we are working the way we want to work, and off the ball, we were very aggressive against a team that wants the ball.
“It was very important to send a message that we are a team good on the ball but we are also a team that tries to work off the ball.”
