The Philadelphia Eagles upset the Minnesota Vikings 34-28, but the triumph was far from straightforward, at least in some ways on Thursday night. Although the Eagles’ running attack was impressive, Jalen Hurts’ throwing performance wasn’t the finest of the night: he passed for 193 yards with a score and an interception while showing signs of dissatisfaction.
Hurts and wide receiver AJ Brown got into a fight on the sidelines, which caused head coach Nick Sirianni to intervene. Hurts was visibly furious.
Hurts minimized what transpired and the possibility of any unresolved difficulties in his post-event remarks. Hurts explained the heated exchange by saying Brown only wanted to support the team’s success.
“Yeah, I think everybody wants to make plays, and everybody wants to contribute,” Hurts said, via NJ.com. “I have no worry about him. He is a great player, great teammate, great friend. We’ll do anything and everything with winning in mind.”
Brown had four of the team’s 18 receptions in the victory, but only for 29 yards and no touchdowns.
Devonta Smith, who finished the game with four receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown, had a more significant performance.
Especially when a game isn’t going as well as they had anticipated, Jason Kelce, the great center for Philadelphia, said it was typical for a player to show his feelings on the sidelines. According to Kelce, a contentious argument is preferable to a situation where the team is unable to communicate effectively.
Following the game, Brown avoided talking to the media.
The Eagles are 2-0, but they have not played at a level that resembles the one they were at when they made it to the Super Bowl last year. A narrow victory over the New England Patriots in Week 1 revealed some of the flaws of the reigning NFC champions. Hurts had a difficult day as he was sacked three times. Despite the difficulties, they have a winning record as they get ready to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football in Week 3.
