Before notifying his future wife about Xavier, his kid with Aja Metoyer, Dwyane Wade attempted to quit his relationship with Gabrielle Union in 2013.
Wade talked about the contentious issue in a tell-all interview with Shannon Sharpe on Wednesday, stating he was seeking for an escape and “tried to pussyfoot around it.”
The former Miami Heat player said he told Union “Hey, things have been bad lately. … We’ve been having a little distance in our relationship anyway.”, however, the Bad Boys star kept on showing up to the Miami Heat games.
Wade eventually had to face the consequences and inform Union about Xavier, the child he had with ‘Basketball Wives’ Aja Metoyer.
“You gotta sit with you and you gotta sit with this person if this is who you’re going to be with, I had to sit with my wife and have this conversation.”, he said while also adding that coming clean with his partner was ‘scary’ because he knew he was going to hurt Gabrielle.
“I couldn’t have gotten through that moment without her sticking with me. That was a rough time for me. You got a lot on your mind. You’re keeping something from people you love. It’s heavy.”
The Miami Heat winner acknowledged that telling Union about Xavier was “the hardest thing” he’s ever done in his documentary “D. Wade: Life Unexpected”.
