Blazers’ Damian Lillard Linked To Multiple Philadelphia 76ers Rivals

According to rumors, a mystery squad has been actively competing in the never-ending Damian Lillard lottery.

It was worth investigating whether or not the Philadelphia 76ers were the team that ESPN’s Marc Spears was referring to when he said that a team other than the Miami Heat are trying to snag the seven-time All-Star. This was because of the Philadelphia 76ers‘ prior interest in Lillard.

We are aware that Tyrese Maxey and other players would be required for the 76ers to get Lillard. The Sixers haven’t shown any interest in investigating that possibility.

At this time, Lillard’s chances of moving to the City of Brotherly Love are limited to none. Two additional Sixers competitors, though, have been connected to the star guard.

Despite Lillard’s desire to move to South Beach, it has been claimed that the Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors are both interested in the Blazers’ guard.

“I’ve heard that it’s not just one team, that multiple teams in the East [called for Dame], the Raptors being one of them,” Action Network’s Matt Moore said, according to Blazers Edge. “That’s the thing nobody is really saying, but everyone around the league knows the Raptors were amongst the teams. They’ve kicked the tires.”

Then PHLY’s Kyle Neubeck added a few details on what he has heard about Chicago.

Two things are still certain as the Lillard issue starts to resurface, even though Spears has yet to provide clarification on the mystery squad he floated.

  1. It’s obvious that the Blazers are sending him to a Sixers conference contender.
  2. The Miami Heat continue to have the advantage.

The Blazers have allegedly been dared by the Heat to look elsewhere for a better deal for Dame.

Although it appears that Portland has been doing so, none of the alleged bidders have managed to win over the Blazers.

In the end, when executives are having business dealings with the Blazers, the past discussions concerning Lillard’s thinking probably seep into their consciousness.

Would they truly be willing to part with prized players and draft picks for a player with other priorities? The Raptors and the Bulls need to give that some serious thought.

Dark horse possibilities are always in with a chance to pounce on a prospect like the Cleveland Cavaliers did to the New York Knicks with Donovan Mitchell in the previous offseason. But Damian Lillard’s team put a lot of effort into stating early in the offseason that he only wants to play for Miami. Therefore, he still has a better chance of moving to South Beach than the other suitors.
