West Ham Stuns Brighton 3-1 To Move To The Top Of The Table

West Ham has continued their perfect start to the new season, beating Brighton 3-1 after beating Chelsea with the same scoreline in the previous week.

Ward-Prowse opened the scoring with his first Hammers goal when he tapped in from two yards out in the 19th minute after good work from Michail Antonio.

It was Ward-Prowse’s third goal involvement in just his second game for the Hammers having joined from boyhood club Southampton this summer for around £30m.

Jarrod Bowen got the second goal of the match in the 58th minute, controlling Said Benrahma’s cross before prodding the ball into the corner.

Brighton had more of the possession and created multiple chances, but they could not convert any.

In a shocking twist of events, Bowen set up Antonio to drill a shot into the corner for West Ham’s third in the 63rd minute.

Brighton scored a consolation goal in the 81st minute when Pascal Gross sent a shot into the far corner.

Brighton finished the match with 79% of possession but, struggled in front of goals despite scoring four goals in each of their last two matches.
