Sevilla Loses To Alaves In A 7-goal Thriller

Sevilla has incurred their second consecutive loss against Spanish rivals Alaves after going home without a point in a 7-goal thriller.

Sevilla also lost to Manchester City on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup final last week and they were looking to get back on high spirit in this league match.

Back in the first division after a year in the second tier, Alaves started the scoring through Luis Rioja and Ruben Duarte in the first half.

But Sevilla got back on level terms with an own-goal by Abdel Abqar and with Erik Lamela.

Kike Garcia scored two goals five minutes apart midway through the second half to put Alaves a good distance away from losing the match.

Rafa Mir stole the third deep into the second-half stoppage time, but it was not enough for the European champions to get any points.

Sevilla hasn’t won in its last six league games going back to last season, with two draws and four losses. The club also neared relegation for a long time last season.

Late Monday, Rayo Vallecano won at promoted Granada 2-0 to become one of the three teams to start with consecutive victories, along with Real Madrid and Valencia.

Almeria, Sevilla, and Granada are the three teams yet to earn points after two rounds.
