Messi has scored his 9th goal in six league games, after scoring against Philadelphia Union in the semifinals of the 2023 League Cup.
He has continued to impress since coming into the MLS, his latest achievement being sending Inter Miami into the 2023 League Cup final.
First-half goals from Messi, Josef MartÃnez, and Jordi Alba were enough to kill the spirits of their opponents before Messi added a final goal.
Inter Miami would play against Nashville SC on Saturday night.
Speaking of the win, Gerardo Martino had this to say.
“The team has reached the final of an international competition. One of the goals was qualifying for the Concacaf Champions Cup, now we have to prepare to try and win the championship if possible.”
“We are motivated and confident, but we are also focused on doing everything to get better. We want to make this club very competitive.”
Inter Miami has also claimed a spot in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup — a first in the team’s history — by reaching the final.
Since Messi arrived in Miami, the team has scored 21 goals in six games, netting four in four of those contests.
