Manchester United were woeful as Tottenham beat them in their first home game under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
Spurs took the lead through midfielder Pape Sarr, who seized on a deflected cross to blaze into the roof of the net from close range.
Lisandro Martinez scored an own goal to seal the deal for the host, as Ben Davies’s shot deflected off him and trickled into the net.
Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana who was pretty much the best United performer had some things to say about the match:
“We had some big chances and we didn’t score, and in the end we paid. We made some mistakes and against good opponents, you pay.”
“Every goal I look at myself. In the end, we have to keep calm and keep working. I’m very positive.”
Spurs captain Son Heung-min was very excited about the win. He said:
“Every manager is different, I will always respect them. As an attacking player, when you press high you are much closer to goal when you win the ball. I like doing my defending high up.”
“I will play any position, left, right, center. I’ll do anything for the team.”
“It’s more enjoyable for the Spurs fans, we are playing high and pressing high, It’s more fun for the players… well I don’t know about the defenders!”
