A Sunday night exhibition fight between world champion Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III ended in an ugly brawl between the fighters and their camps.
The fight had no judges to score points and was sheduled to go for 8 rounds, each lasting two minutes. No winner was declared after the contest.
The fight started after the referee stopped the fight following series of fouls but Gotti would have none of it. He charged up to Mayweather and soon the ring was beehive-filled with supporters from both sides brawling at eachother.
Gotti (2-0, 1 KO) was disqualified by referee Kenny Bayless for repeatedly grabbing Mayweather. Though a clip captured Mayweather position Gotti before hammering down on the back of his head. Mayweather further planted one on Gotti’s face as he tried to complain to the referee.
Since retiring, Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) has taken part in numerous exhibition fights. The most high-profile exhibition fight to date was a clash with social media star Logan Paul in 2021.
Prior to the stoppage at FLA Live Arena, Mayweather played to the crowd as he taunted Gotti through the first five rounds. Despite the unplanned ending, Mayweather was seen as the clear winner of the fight – his seventh exhibition fight.
