Plane Crashes Into Lake Hamilton After Emergency Request to Land At Hot Springs Airport

In a developing The Garland County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a plane crashed into Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs.

According to reports, a small-engine aircraft crashed in a cove located off 161 Port Au Prince Street, shortly after 8 a.m., Monday.

Multiple local agencies, including the Hot Springs Fire Department, police, and divers, have responded to the scene.

A female survivor was recovered from the plane and sent to a local hospital for treatment. Another male was later recovered by divers during a further search in the lake, his condition was unknown at this time.

The aircraft was identified as a 177 Cardinal with tail number N3138T. It departed from Kentucky and diverted to the Hot Springs Airport.

The HS airport said they received an emergency request from the aircraft to land due to issues it encountered during the flight – however, it failed to land successfully.

Authorities say they will continue with their investigation to unravel the cause of the crash as well as the possibility of other occupants.
