Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has engaged Lauren Sánchez, his lover of over four years. No further information was given about the proposal or wedding arrangements.
Bezos and Sánchez – a former broadcast journalist and now philanthropist, have kept their dating under wraps, since the two first went public with their relationship in 2019, shortly after they both divorced their former marriages.
The couple has kept their private life largely out of the media, but reports of their engagement spread on Monday after photos surfaced of the pair on Bezos’ yacht in which Sánchez appeared to be wearing a wedding ring.
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are in the South of France for the Cannes Film Festival, where the couple has been chilling his Jeff’s $500 million yacht.
Over the weekend, Bezoz and Sánchez were photographed in the premiere of Apple Original Films’ “Killers of the Flower Moon” at the Cannes Film Festival.
Sánchez, also a helicopter pilot, was also seen rocking the same ring she was seen with on the yacht which was named Koru. The yacht has a wooden woman sculpture made in the likeness of Sánchez attached to the ship’s prow.
The mermaid-like artwork includes a necklace featuring the symbol for Koru, which is Māori for loop or coil. It’s based on the spiral shape of an unfurling silver fern frond — a symbol that is special to the couple.
Koru symbolizes new beginnings — which Bezos has cited before on his Instagram — and a new phase of life, positive change, personal growth, and hope for the future.
According to Page Six, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez were dating few days after he divorced his ex-wife, and in 2019, rumour had it that he had engaged her after she was was seen with a massive heart-shaped ring.
Sánchez then was separated from her 58-year-old Hollywood husband Patrick Whitesell, whom she had two kids for – Ella, 15, and Evan, 16.
She also has a 22-year-old son Nikko with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez.
Jeff Bezos has four children with his former wife, MacKenzie Scott.
She became the third richest woman in the world from her divorce settlement, with 25 percent of the exes’ joint stock in Amazon, though Bezos kept voting control over her nearly 20 million shares.
