Elon Musk Reportedly Wants Linda Yaccarino, NBCUniversal’s Head Of Advertising To Be Twitter's New CEO

According to reports, Elon Musk has been in talks with Linda Yaccarino and wants NBCUniversal’s head of advertising to become the new Twitter CEO.

The Tesla and Space X chief executive has said that his position as the head of Twitter, after purchasing the social media giant in October, will be temporary

He added that he would lead the executive chair and chief technology officer, “overseeing product, software, and sysops [for systems operations]”.

Without naming a successor, Musk wrote on Twitter on Thursday: “Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!”

In a December poll, Elon Musk asked if he should step down as Twitter CEO, saying he would resign if he finds someone “foolish enough to take the job”.

The poll got 17.5 million votes and 57.5 percent voted for him to resign.

Musk and Yaccarino were recently spotted together at a conference in Miami where they gave a keynote speech titled “Twitter 2.0: From Conversations to Partnerships” – there, they seemed to have a good rapport onstage.

News of Elon Musk leaving the CEO position of Twitter is coming after shareholders of Tesla, heightened pressure on him to return his focus to the electric company, whose shares have fallen by 30 percent over the past year. With this current report, Tesla’s stock spiked about 2 percent.

Elon’s stay as the CEO of Twitter so far has witnessed many changes, notably the removal and subscription for the Twitter blue verification and the change of the Twitter logo to his Dogecoin logo. Both have been returned.

Musk also saw the reduction of Twitter workforce, which he reportedly reduced by about 90 percent and relaxed some content moderation – which made some users and advertisers pull out of the platform.

In March, Musk said that Twitter’s finances were improving after his cost-cutting efforts, and that the company could have a positive cash flow by the next quarter. He has also announced several new features in recent weeks, such as encrypted messaging.
