Bristol City vs Man City Match: Man. City has qualified for the FA Cup quarter-finals for a fifth time after winning Bristol City 3-0.
Bristol City played well overall, but two goals from Phil Foden followed by a third from Kevin de Bruyne gave Manchester City the victory.
Nigel Pearson’s Robins was victorious in 12 games in all competitions ahead of this one and tried their best to pull off a good offense but shots from Phil Foden and De Bruyne had their way through their defense
Guardiola named a strong side, as he invariably does in domestic cup competitions, and City began the game in dynamic style with Kalvin Phillips hitting the crossbar.
Man. City took the lead early with Foden shot high into the roof of the net from Riyad Mahrez’s pass.
The hosts did not buckle though and had a good shout for a penalty declined when Mark Sykes went down under a challenge from Rico Lewis in the area while Alex Scott forced a decent save from City keeper Stefan Ortega.
De Bruyne then split Bristol’s defense with a ball to Nathan Ake whose pass eventually fell to Foden for a shot deflected into the net off of Zak Vyner.
Reacting to the gameplay, Guardiola said; “It was really tough. Bristol showed us how good they can be. I was impressed by some players, I didn’t know them. The second half was much better.”
