Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Russell Gage suffered a concussion and was hospitalized where he is been tested for a possible neck injury, during an NFC playoff game with the Dallas Cowboys.
Russel Gage was injured after he took a hit on an incomplete pass late into the game. He was taken out of the field on a stretcher.
He stumbled on a route, went to the ground, couldn’t make the catch, then took a hard shot to the neck from Donovan Wilson.
Players from both sides of the team gathered around him while the medical personnel provided assistance. The game resumed after some delay with the Dallas Cowboys defeating the Buccaneers 31-14.
The incident is coming weeks after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin had a cardiac arrest and collapsed following a tackle during their game with the Cincinnati Bengals Game on January 2.
Damar had spent a week in critical condition in the intensive care unit of a Cincinnati hospital before being discharged and transferred to a Buffalo hospital.
He was then discharged from the Buffalo hospital the previous week and is continuing his recovery at home.
