Morocco Takes Spain Out Of World Cup Via Penalty 3-0

Spain repeated history after they fell off the 2022 World Cup tournament after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Morocco in a penalty shootout.

Both countries had exhausted the full match on a goalless draw and the only option left was via penalty.

Morocco scored three goals while Spain failed on all attempts.

Morocco’s goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, was regarded as the hero of the match after saving two penalty kicks from Spain’s Carlos Soler and Sergio Busquets. Pablo Sarabia who took the first shot for Spain missed his mark.

During the main match, Spain dominated the game with 77 percent control of the ball. However, dominance was not all that was needed to put score a goal. In the second half, Spain brought in Nico Williams and Alvaro Morata, but the coach failed to direct the team on who to eventually penetrate their opponent’s defense for a clear shot.

Morocco on its part had its first fair of chance, especially in the first half; notably Achraf Hakimi’s freekick. Their game was majorly on the defensive, probably they had confidence in winning the match via penalty and having their goalkeeper make great saves.

And they were right as the penalty ended right in their favor with Spain’s goalkeeper, Unai Simon, saving one shot from Badr Benoun.
