Runner-up on “American Idol” According to a report, Willie Spence passed away on Tuesday following injuries incurred in an automobile accident. He was 23.
The final video Spence shared, in which he can be seen singing a Christian song in a car just before the accident, has been reposted by McPhee, 38, along with a number of broken-heart emoticons.
According to local news source Douglas Now, the great crooner was in Tennessee at the time of the incident.
Spence was on Season 19 of The Voice, where they sang a duet together. Singer Katharine McPhee appeared to confirm the news on her Instagram Story and uploaded videos lamenting his passing.
“I received very tragic news tonight,” she wrote above a video of her and Spence meeting. “Sweet @williespenceofficial passed away in a car accident. Only 23 years old. Life is so unfair and nothing is ever promised.
“God rest your soul Willie. It was a pleasure to sing with you and to know you.”
