Goalkeeper Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid will miss the match against Rayo Vallecano as a “precaution” due to the concussion he sustained in the last match against Athletic Bilbao as well as issues with his right shoulder. Joao Felix, who had a hip injury in that game, is now healthy and is a member of Diego Simeone’s 20-man squad.
Ivo Grbic will play in goal in place of the Slovenian goalie, as he did against Celta Vigo, Bayer Leverkusen, and for the final few seconds of Saturday’s game at San Mames. He stopped Athletic with two outstanding saves. In the 69th minute of the match, he took the place of Oblak.
The two goalkeepers on the team are Sergio Mestre and Alejandro Iturbe from the academy. Sergio Reguilon, Marcos Llorente, and Felipe Monteiro (all with muscular injuries), as well as Koke, who was hurt against Athletic Bilbao, are all out.
Other members of the team include winger Yannick Carrasco, strikers Joao Félix, Angel Correa, Antoine Griezmann, Matheus Cunha, and Alvaro Morata, as well as defensive players Nahuel Molina, Sergio Diez, Stefan Savic, José Mara Giménez, Reinildo Mandava, and Mario Hermoso, as well as midfielders Sal Niguez, Axel Witsel.
