Festus Keyamo, the campaign spokeswoman for the All Progressives Congress, stated on Wednesday night that he was unaware of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s current whereabouts.
Even as he denied rumors that the former governor of Lagos State had left the nation in search of medical care.
When he spoke on Channels Tv’s “Politics Today,” Keyamo clarified that only troublemakers are seriously worried about Tinubu’s movements. He also noted that no one raises a fuss when the PDP presidential nominee, Atiku Abubakar, travels to Dubai.
He said, “Our candidate is not in the country currently and I don’t have any information on where he is. I know he will be back in a couple of days but I don’t know the particular day.
“He is also not on a medical trip; I don’t have such information. It is not true that we have not started campaigns because the candidate is sick and is not around.”
When asked if the recent video was posted on social media to prove a point, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment responded that “As far as I am concerned it was done in real-time and posted on his Twitter handle. It is not to prove that he is alive, we are not trying to prove anything to anybody. Our candidate is not struggling to prove himself to anybody. People who are close to him know that he is an avid cyclist, he does that all the time, and it is his regular routine.
However, his explanations did not go well as Twitter went viral with the suspicion that all was not well with the APC presidential flag bearer. Some feared his demise while many believe he was critically ill and receiving medical attention.
The suspicion was further fueled with the influx of an alleged old video of Tinubu riding on a stationary bike, in a bid to prove to Nigerians that he is fit and okay.
The matter was further escalated when the “Jagaban of Lagos” shared another photo of him reading a copy of The Nations Newspaper in an office, but people were quick to discover that the picture was old because the paper Newspaper he was reading was dated on January 23, 2022.
