More Pressure On Adidas To Stop Partnership With Kanye West Over Antisemitic Comments

Following the rapper’s recent string of derogatory and antisemitic comments, many are pushing for Adidas to sever its partnership with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.

Ye has had some repercussions for his remarks: His accounts on Twitter and Instagram have been limited (he now claims he plans to buy far-right social media site Parler), and the fashion label Balenciaga is apparently breaking connections with him.

The Los Angeles Times reported at noon on Monday that renowned Hollywood agency CAA, which had been representing Ye since 2016, had dissolved their partnership with him this month. Additionally, he might be sued by George Floyd’s family for remarks he made on a podcast.

While the rapper continues to amplify antisemitic stereotypes and conspiracies, the German footwear juggernaut has not provided any updates since announcing at the beginning of this month that its collaboration was being reviewed.

In a since-deleted episode of Drink Champs from October 16 of which a clip has become extremely popular on social media, he appeared to brag about that fact.

That question was ominously addressed over the weekend when a group of people displayed antisemitic signs over a busy Los Angeles freeway, including one that stated, “Kanye is right about the Jews.”

The name of a group that the Anti-Defamation League has labeled as an antisemitic hate group was used on a banner. Authorities are also looking into antisemitic flyers the same weekend that were delivered in Beverly Hills.

According to the ADL in a campaign pushing people to “tell Adidas to run away from hatred,” those instances occur at a time when antisemitism in the United States is on the rise.

Numerous haters are now pleading with Adidas to fire Ye and distancing itself from his divisive ideologies. They claim that their existing contract will last until 2026.

The hashtag #BoycottAdidas has been trending on Twitter for days, and more than 90,000 people have signed a Change.org petition asking the business to discontinue its relationship with Ye. Public personalities like David Schwimmer and Alexander Vindman have criticized Adidas, and according to reports, United Talent Agency CEO Jeremy Zimmer sent out a note to the entire firm pushing staff to “support the boycott of Kanye West.”
