
The first north London derby of the season saw more Arsenal and Tottenham fans than ever before.
WHAT OCCURED? The WSL is undoubtedly feeling the effects of the Lionesses’ victory at the Euros. On Saturday afternoon, a league-record crowd attended the Emirates to watch Arsenal easily defeat Tottenham.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Despite a little difference between ticket sales and attendance, the previous record was nevertheless surpassed by over 10,000. 47,367 people showed up, breaking the previous attendance record of 38,262 set at the North London Derby back in November 2019.
Additionally, the visiting home supporters were overjoyed with what they witnessed. Beth Mead gave the Gunners the lead, and goals from Vivianne Miedema twice and Rafaelle Souza’s header made it 4-0.
