Since SummerSlam in 1992, this was the first stadium event for the WWE in the UK.
More than 60,000 lucky spectators crammed into Cardiff’s Principality Stadium for an exciting night of wrestling, and there was drama galore.
The occasion served as Triple H’s first significant opportunity to demonstrate his intentions for the organization in his new position as Head of Creative for the WWE.
After Vince McMahon stepped down as group president in July, the WWE seized the chance to reorganize, and the Clash at the Castle’s opening moments was encouraging.
Three title fights were on the jam-packed schedule.
In contrast, Liv Morgan brought the Women’s Title home with her after defeating Shayna Baszler and using her signature ObLIVion to win the match. Gunther defeated Sheamus to defend his Intercontinental Title.
After their match against Damian Priest and Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio turned on Edge and his father Rey, which was followed by some family drama.
Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre fought it out for the WWE Universal Title to cap off the evening.
The two engaged in a classic duel that lived up to the fight’s high expectations before the match.
After using the Claymore, Drew McIntyre appeared to have the championship under control, but Roman Reigns helped himself by getting Solo Sikora to drag the referee out at the crucial juncture.
Reigns, who has held the Universal Title for more than two years, was able to respond with his third Spear of the match thanks to this.
Roman Reigns did not appear to be in the mood to celebrate despite his impressive and significant victory in the post-match interview.
Alex McCarthy of the Daily Mail posed a very gentle question, which was met with utter silence for a full 30 seconds.
Then Reigns spoke, requesting acknowledgment, perhaps feeling that his title defense and performance hadn’t received the credit they deserved.
He then made a dramatic exit from the stage.
