Several images that have appeared on social media show African heads of state being transported to the location of Queen Elizabeth’s state burial at Westminster Abbey in London, including Kenyan President William Ruto and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu.
US president Joe Biden and his wife Jill were permitted to travel to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral service on Monday, September 19, in an armored presidential limousine called “The Beast,” while all foreign dignitaries were transported by a fleet of buses.
It appears that many social media users are not pleased with this arrangement, which was announced days before the funeral, as the funeral dominates trends on social media platforms using the hashtag #queensfuneral.
The White House reportedly insisted that Biden travels in a six-car motorcade for “security reasons,” according to the UK’s Express news portal. The development resulted from UK officials granting their request.
The article also stated that to “ease traffic congestion,” buses were used to transport the remaining guests.
Biden was reportedly not the only person left off of the VIP bus, though. The royal families of various European nations were among the others.
The list also included G7 leaders like Emmanuel Macron of France, Naruhito of Japan, and Justin Trudeau of Canada, among others. Additionally, it’s for “security reasons.”
