Tyreek Hill, the Bengals’ standout wide receiver, made headlines before the Bengals’ Week 4 game against the Dolphins when he talked about seeing Cincinnati again, notably CB Eli Apple.
“I can’t wait to go against Eli Apple. I owe you, boy. I owe you. I’m here. The cheetah’s here,” Hill said following Miami’s Week 3 win over the Buffalo Bills.
If you’re a Bengals fan, you probably won’t have forgotten, but the Bengals defeated Hill’s Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game last year in large part because to Apple’s crucial goal-line tackle of Hill at the conclusion of the first half.
As you can expect, Hill was determined to exact retribution now that he is a Dolphin.
Hill, to his credit, was quite effective Thursday night, setting new records for catches (10) and receiving yards (160).
Unfortunately for him, the outcome was the same as the Bengals won 27-15, handing Hill his third straight defeat in Cincinnati in 2022.
Hill alleged that a Bengals coach had treated him disrespectfully at some point during the game.
It’s unclear exactly what was said, but I’d like to believe that the Bengals safety made a first-half interception over Hill that was comparable to his overtime interception over Hill in the AFC Championship. I’d like to believe that the coach just whispered “Vonn Bell.”
