On Monday morning, the city of Tampa stated that it would open 16 parks and leisure areas as “out of school camps” for families whose children’s schools in Hillsborough County had been closed due to Hurricane Ian.
Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are welcome to visit the locations, which are open today and Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Public schools will be closed from Monday through Thursday, Hillsborough school authorities said on Sunday.
Families must reside inside Tampa city limits in order to attend the camps. Families who will be sending kids to school should pack a lunch and give them some snacks. Additionally, according to municipal authorities, anyone without a “rec card” must fill out a registration form in person with a member of the Parks and Recreation department staff.
All additional parks and recreation activities, according to the city, will be suspended until further notice.
