Strong to severe storms are expected to roll over Maryland this afternoon and tonight, making today a WJZ Alert Day.
Baltimore and the neighboring counties are currently under a severe thunderstorm warning that will last until Sunday night at 7 p.m.
A cold front is approaching after a warm front moved through the state.
Due to the meeting of these two air masses, our Sunday’s second half will have extremely busy weather.
Between 1 and 3 pm, the first round of storms arrives.
Of course, most of us will be watching our Ravens play the Patriots at that time.
While there may be a few showers in New England during the Ravens’ game, there is a chance of strong gusts, heavy hail, and even an isolated tornado here in Baltimore.
Between 5-7pm, it appears that there is a brief respite before another wave of storms hits.
In Central Maryland, evening storms are definitely a possibility, but further south is where they look to be strongest and most active.
With considerably calmer weather expected for the work week, we dry out late tonight.
With morning highs in the mid to upper 50s and afternoon highs in the upper 70s, Monday will be a very sunny day.
