The Oregon Ducks defeated BYU football handily on Saturday at Autzen Stadium.
Probably not what the nearly 10,000 Cougar supporters who traveled to Eugene anticipated to witness was the 41-20 defeat. But even after the game was over, BYU supporters continued to express their support.
Cougar supporters were clapping for the BYU football team as they left the field. In an effort to lift the team’s spirits despite the loss, BYU supporters congregated close to the dressing room.
The Cougars’ ability to play in regions of the nation that haven’t seen BYU in a while has been one of the few advantages of BYU’s Independent period. BYU last participated in a game in Eugene in 1990. Fans in the Northwest turned out, and despite the lack of noteworthy events, they still seemed appreciative to see their team.
The next scheduled game for BYU is a home contest against Wyoming on September 24, followed by a road contest against Notre Dame in Las Vegas on October 8.
