On October 15, a fight between Piera Rodriguez and Sam Hughes will take place at an unspecified UFC event. The strawweight match was confirmed to Cageside Press by an inside source.
On their Instagram stories, both boxers would confirm the match.
Hughes (7-4) has made a remarkable comeback after dropping her first three UFC fights after transferring her training to Fortis MMA in Dallas, Texas.
In April, “Sampage” defeated Istela Nunes by majority decision to earn her first UFC victory. In her most recent fight, she used punches and elbows to stop Elise Reed for her first-ever UFC victory.
After her victory over Nunes in February, Hughes informed Cageside Press that she had signed a new contract with UFC.
At UFC 273, Rodriguez (8-0) defeated Kay Hansen by unanimous decision to earn a victory in her UFC debut. On the fifth season of Dana White’s Contender Series, “La Fiera” defeated Valesca Machado to claim her UFC contract. Former LFA strawweight champion Rodriguez.
A venue, location, or main event have not yet been determined for the UFC event on October 15.
Only one other matchup between Angela Hill and Lupita Godinez has been announced for the October event.
