Before the MLB trade deadline, Juan Soto is the most alluring trade prospect available, but the Washington Nationals’ absurdly high asking price for their young superstar has discouraged some MLB teams from making a deal.
The Nationals are reportedly looking for a “package of four top prospects in addition to at least one young Major League player” in any deal for Soto, according to MLB insider Mark Feinsand. However, the high asking prices even for rental players have caused “a bit of a freeze in the trade market.”
Nevertheless, a National League executive wishes for a drop in asking prices as the trade deadline approaches. If not, there is a good chance that players like Soto will remain with their current teams.
The Nationals have received a bid for Juan Soto, for what it’s worth. Recent reports claim that the San Diego Padres have traded Soto for CJ Abrams, left-handed pitchers MacKenzie Gore and Adrian Morejon, shortstop Robert Hassell III, and outfielders Joshua Mears.
It’s also possible that Soto will be traded to the St. Louis Cardinals or Los Angeles Dodgers, but this is uncertain at this time.
Fans must, unfortunately, wait and see in order to learn more about Soto’s future. The good news is that since the deadline is approaching, the wait won’t last very long. If a trade for Soto occurs, it should do so within the next 38 hours.
