Six months after she was discovered dead in Los Angeles, “Empire” actor Lindsey Pearlman’s cause of death was made public.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-records, Coroner Pearlman committed himself on February 18 as a result of sodium nitrate overdose.
The 43-year-old Pearlman vanished after being last seen on February 13 at her East Hollywood residence, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Five days after the LAPD reported her missing, her body was discovered inside a car on February 18 in the Hollywood neighborhood of Runyon Canyon Park. Her cause of death was not disclosed at the time by the coroner’s office.
“We are deeply saddened by Lindsey Pearlman’s passing today,” Chiaverini said. “The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time while they process and grieve.”
After her body was discovered, Michael Chiaverini, the actor’s agent, issued a statement.
Lindsey’s cousin Savannah Pearlman shared the missing person report at the time and claimed Lindsey’s sister asked her to give the National Suicide Hotline’s phone number.
“I’m deeply sad to report that they have found Lindsey, and it was too late,” she wrote. “I have no other information about the location or circumstance.”
Her relative continued, “Lindsey was a fervent animal advocate and a wonderful actor. She added that contributions might be given in honor of Pearlman to the Los Angeles-based Santé D’Or animal shelter and adoption program.
Vance Smith, Pearlman’s husband, also provided updates on the investigation and posted on Instagram at the time, “The cops located Lindsey. She has left. I’m shattered.
Chicago-born actor Pearlman made appearances on several TV programs, including “Empire,” “General Hospital,” “Chicago Justice,” and the “Purge” TV series.
