The 2022–23 campaign for Sheffield United gets underway tonight at Watford. At Vicarage Road, the Blades play a Premier League team that was relegated from the previous season.
The Hornets’ dugout also has a new manager. Roy Hodgson, a former manager of England, is replaced by Rob Edwards.
Edwards takes charge of his first competitive game after convincingly leading Forest Green to the League Two championship the previous season. Paul Heckingbottom, the manager of the Blades, will be hoping that his team can continue where they left off the previous year.
After his hiring in November, United was one of the best teams in the division, and under his leadership, the team finished fifth. The visitors are hoping for a successful outcome here tonight because they have lost their first five games of the season.
Heckingbottom has turned in his team sheet, but unexpected injury information has changed his decision.
Both Chris Basham and Jack Robinson are out with hamstring and knee injuries, respectively. An additional twist is that recently acquired Anel Ahmedhodzic is serving a one-game suspension from his loan stint in Bordeaux.
Sheffield United is positioned like this
Foderingham, Clark, Egan, Norrington-Davies, Baldock, Berge, Norwood, Fleck, Stevens, Ndiaye, and Jebbison make up Sheffield United’s starting lineup.
Amissah, Gordon, Lowe, Osborn, Khadra, Sharp, and Brewster are substitutes.
