The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will take place at Newark’s Prudential Center on Sunday, Aug. 28, and the first round of performers includes J Balvin, Panic! at the Disco, Anitta, and Marshmello alongside Khalid.

Anitta and Marshmello are both debuting on the main stage at the VMAs, with Anitta performing her brand-new song “Envolver” live for the first time ever on television. Marshmello also brought Khalid to perform their current single “Numb.” At the occasion, Panic! at the Disco will also make its stage debut for the first time since 2018 with the release of its brand-new song, “Middle of a Breakup.”

Balvin, a 13-time nominee with five Moon Persons, will also make his new song “Nivel de Perreo” with Ryan Castro debut at the VMAs, where the Columbian superstar has a chance to become the most decorated Latin artist in VMAs history. Balvin is nominated in the Best Latin category for “In Da Getto.”

Prior to the 2022 Video Music Awards, MTV will make additional artists known in the upcoming weeks.

This year’s nominees are led by Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Nas X, each of which received seven nods. The other nominees were Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Rosala, and Ed Sheeran. Doja Cat and Harry Styles each earned six nominations.
