Eagles vs. Jets Score: New York Jets Put On A Brilliant Performance Despite Zach Wilson’s Injury

The quarterbacks of both the Eagles and the New York Jets were the focus of the biggest stories from Friday’s preseason game, but for very different reasons. Eagles supporters were rejoicing at Jalen Hurts’ stellar performance, while Jets supporters were upset that Zach Wilson had to exit the game due to a knee injury.

Despite losing Wilson and starting the game with a double-digit deficit, the Jets came back to claim a 24-21 victory.

Hurts was instrumental in the Eagles’ first possession of the game ending in the end zone. A few minutes later, after the Eagles’ defense intercepted Wilson, who departed the game on New York Jet’s following possession, Philadelphia was back in the end zone.

However, New York managed to weather the storm, scoring 17 points in a row to grab the lead midway through the fourth quarter. Lawrence Cager, a receiver, led the Jets’ decisive scoring drive.

His receptions of 29 and 11 yards helped set up Chris Streveler’s one-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jeremy Ruckert.

In retaliation, Philadelphia launched an 18-play drive that was sustained by Reid Sinnett’s pass to tight end Noah Togiai on the fourth down. With 1:40 left, Sinnett’s two-yard touchdown pass to Kennedy Brooks was made possible thanks in part to the completion.

The Jets came back, as they had done for the all of the second half, and Zonovan Knight’s 52-yard return on the subsequent kickoff gave New York great field position for their last drive.

With only 16 seconds left, New York Jets took advantage of the small field by connecting on a touchdown pass from Streveler to Calvin Jackson in the end zone.
