The oddsmakers have divided the pack between Liverpool and the defending champion Manchester City in the race for the Premier League championship.
The odds favorite to win the EPL again are Man City, who have claimed four of the last five championships, and are priced at -165 at Caesars Sportsbooks. Liverpool, who finished second last year, is +200.
The two top clubs are far separated from the rest of the standings, according to the oddsmakers. Only Liverpool and Man City have odds in the single digits. The following teams, Tottenham (+1,400) and Chelsea (+1,600) are listed farther down the oddsboards.
Tottenham, however, has drawn the most wagers and is the team on which the most money has been wagered at Caesars Sportsbook to win the league title, although it will be difficult to dislodge Man City.
The addition of elite striker Erling Haaland by Man City over the offseason strengthened Pep Guardiola’s already strong team, which amassed 93 points on its way to winning the title the previous year. The number of points was the sixth-highest in league history. However, Liverpool came in second place by just one point and defeated Man City last week in the FA Community Shield.
Arsenal, who face Crystal Palace to open the season on Friday, is favored by +2,800 while Manchester United is favored by +3,500. According to sports betting history website SportsOddsHistory.com, Man United’s preseason title odds are the highest they have been in more than ten years.
At Caesars Sportsbook, Bournemouth and Fulham are the longest odds on the board, with odds of 1,500-1 and 1,000-1, respectively.
