After the notorious Oscars slap in March, Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, were seen together in public for the first time. For the first time since Will, 53, struck Chris Rock on stage in defense of Jada, 50, at the 94th Academy Awards, the couple enjoyed an afternoon date at Nobu Malibu on Saturday.
They seemed in good spirits, and Jada seemed to be holding onto Will’s belt loop as they headed to their car, and Will even threw the peace sign to a fan.
The 53-year-old Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum was spotted leaving Nobu in Malibu, California, sporting a navy golf shirt, a matching baseball cap, and matching pants.
The 50-year-old host of Red Table Talk followed Will Smith to the car while maintaining one hand on her husband’s back. She had a red flannel shirt knotted around her waist and was dressed in all black. Pinkett Smith completed the ensemble with hoop earrings and sunglasses.
Since his confrontation with Chris Rock in March, Smith has not engaged in many public endeavors.
The 57-year-old comedian made a joke about Pinkett Smith, who wed the Men In Black actor in 1997, appearing in a G.I. Jane sequel because of her shaved head during the ceremony.
Since then, he has expressed regret to Rock and resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which gave him a 10-year suspension from the ceremony.
Rock, 57, was struck across the face by Smith who strode onto the stage looking pissed.
Smith was seen for the first time since the incident in April while posing for photographs with fans while traveling to Mumbai, India, for a holiday that he and his wife had organized well in advance of the awards ceremony.
