On Saturday, Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 1-0 in Australia thanks to a strike from Jadon Sancho, who now has three preseason goals this summer.
Midway through the first half at Perth’s Optus Stadium, Sancho scored on a shot from the edge of the six-yard box following some excellent play from Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw.
Sancho, who had earlier in the month scored against Liverpool and Crystal Palace, was presented with a very tempting first-time cross by Shaw after Rashford held onto the ball inside the penalty area and fed the overlapping player.
With 90 combined England caps, Sancho, Shaw, and Rashford were all left out of Gareth Southgate’s most recent selection.
While last season was United’s worst in the Premier League’s history, England boss Southgate likes to select players based on their current form.
There is a significant likelihood that the three exiled English players from United who can start the 2022–23 season well will be selected for Southgate’s World Cup roster in November.
Additionally, Sancho and Rashford contributed to United’s second goal against Villa.
Sancho crossed for Rashford right before the interval, and Rashford’s volleyed shot took a significant deflection from defender Matty Cash to find the back of the net.
With goals from Leon Bailey and Calum Chambers, Villa came back strongly to earn a 2-2 draw.
