A report that the Celtics offered Jaylen Brown to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a prospective trade package that would send Kevin Durant to Boston surfaced early on Monday morning.

Jaylen Brown tweeted the following a few hours later:

Throughout the 2021–22 season, Brown reaffirmed his dedication to the Celtics while playing off rumours that he and Jayson Tatum wouldn’t get along. The fact that Tatum and Brown helped Boston advance to Game 6 of the NBA Finals shows how well they get along with the rest of the team’s young core.

Brown’s annoyance at being mentioned in trade talks makes sense, especially since the Celtics are predicted to challenge for the championship again after acquiring Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari.

It would make sense if Brown feels wronged for being a part of a Durant trade proposal. He was picked by the Celtics in 2016 when he was 19 years old, and he has played his entire career in Boston.

Since drafting both players, the Boston Celtics have centred their strategy around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Last year, they were two victories away from defeating the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

During their NBA Finals matchup with Golden State in 2022, Brown was undoubtedly the Celtics’ finest player. He has a multi-year deal and would probably love to come back to Boston to try to complete the task and win the championship the following year.
