The Celtics are making moves to bolster an already deep team after making a run to the NBA Finals. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the team has signed guard Malcolm Brogdon from the Pacers, hours after it was announced that they were bringing in forward Danilo Gallinari.
Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts, and Juwan Morgan are just a few of the role players the Celtics received in exchange for Brogdon, along with a first-round selection in 2023.
The Bucks selected the 29-year-old Brogdon in the second round of the 2016 draft following an outstanding All-American career at Virginia. The decision paid off right away, as he unexpectedly received a nomination for the league’s 2017 Rookie of the Year Award.

He was traded to the Pacers in a sign-and-trade after a standout 50/40/90 campaign with the Bucks in 2018–19, where he also inked a four-year, $85 million contract. In 20-21, he scored 21.2 points on average, a career-high.
The main issue with Brogdon is his health. Since his debut season in 2016–17, he hasn’t played more than 65 games in a single season, and throughout his six-year career, he has played an average of just over 55 games annually.
In 2021–22, he participated in 36 games, which was a career-low, but missed a substantial portion of the season in the middle due to an Achilles tendon injury.
