When he challenges Dominican boxer Javier Fortuna, 33, in Los Angeles on Saturday, 23-year-old Ryan Garcia will be risking his perfect record.
The fight takes place almost a year after Garcia withdrew from it on July 9, 2021, to concentrate on his mental health. However, a year later, the fight is back on, and Garcia is the clear favorite (-1800 at Tipico Sportsbook) to win. In addition, 75% of tickets at Tipico are put on Garcia to win.
These numbers are hardly shocking. Garcia is a former belt holder who has 22 wins with 18 knockouts and has not yet experienced defeat. He has only faced off in four full-length battles. Similar to Fortuna, who enjoys dispatching opponents quickly: 26 of his 37 victories have been by knockout.
