A post by Jordan Peterson regarding transgender actor Elliot Page, that broke Twitter’s “against hateful conduct” guidelines resulted in his suspension from the social media site.
Online screenshots depict the disputed tweet from the account of the Canadian clinical psychologist, which reads: “Remember when pride was a sin? And Ellen Page just had her breasts removed by a criminal physician.”
In 2020, Page came out as transgender and said he will now go by the name Elliot. Peterson, 60, is accountable for deadnaming the Umbrella Academy star.
Jordan Peterson, who on Thursday began working for the conservative podcast Daily Wire, is well-known for his anti-trans and anti-feminist attitude.
On Joe Rogan’s podcast, he once asserted that being transgender is a “contagion” and is comparable to “satanic ritual abuse.”
The banned message saga was retweeted by conservative political blogger Dave Rubin, who wrote, “The insanity continues at Twitter. [Jordan Peterson] just told me he will ‘never’ delete the tweet. Paging @elonmusk.”
Jordan Peterson and Twitter have a history of disputes, mostly concerning his “hateful conduct/tweets” and other free speech concerns.
This is the most recent in that line, after receiving criticism for disparaging Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model Yumi Nu.
He wrote of the plus-size poser’s cover debut: “Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that.”
Peterson boldly declared in May that he was “quitting” the platform, apparently, Twitter has helped him quit for a short while.
